CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center

The executive vice president of CHRISTUS Health Associates, Paul Generale leads strategy across the health system's network of health care services in Dallas and around the world. Paul Generale has facilitated investment in the CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center, which holds Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI.

Part of the CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System, CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center serves residents in east Texas and north Louisiana. Due to its accreditation, patients do not have to travel to Dallas and other larger cities for heart care. The ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation indicates a hospital has proven exceptional capabilities in treating heart attack symptoms. Furthermore, it confirms that a hospital offers primary PCI, a non-surgical procedure to reduce symptoms and potential heart damage from a heart attack.

To attain the accreditation, CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center underwent an extensive on-site evaluation. This required examining different types of care, implementing improved strategies for care, and demonstrating the capability to support improved patient outcomes.

About Paul Generale

An experienced healthcare executive, Paul Generale has spent more than 15 years leading various divisions of CHRISTUS Health in New Mexico and Texas. Shortly after earning his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Paul Generale joined the CHRISTUS healthcare system as the director of finance at CHRISTUS St. John Hospital in Houston. Over the course of the following decade, he served as the regional chief financial officer and vice president at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe before becoming the senior vice president of financial operations and ambulatory services at CHRISTUS Health in the Dallas area. At the latter, he is currently the executive vice president and chief strategy and network officer.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Paul Generale has been actively involved in his community as a member of healthcare and education boards. Most recently, he served on the board of trustees of St. John Hospital in Houston. He also held a multi-year board position as vice chair with Saint Anthony Health System in Amarillo, Texas. Between 2008 and 2011, Mr. Generale served on the boards of the Rio Grande School and Children’s Museum, which are both located in Santa Fe. When he's not focused on his professional pursuits, he enjoys spending his time with his children, traveling, and volunteering.
