The ADA Education Recognition Program

As the executive vice president for Christus Health in Dallas, Texas, Paul Generale oversees hundreds of hospitals, clinics, and related healthcare facilities across three states and four total countries. In 2022, multiple facilities in the network Paul Generale manages received recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

The St. Frances Cabrini Hospital’s Healthy Learning Center- (HEAL) program, and the CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center’s CHRISTUS Outpatient Diabetes Education Program, both located in Louisiana, earned certification from the ADA’s Education Recognition Program (ERP). The ERT indicates that a certified program hosts expert staff and well-designed patient education materials, focused on preventative treatment. ERP certified programs work to create personalized plans to address individuals’ needs, while also providing them the knowledge to manage their symptoms on their own.

The Alexandria and Shreveport, Louisiana facilities received their certifications on March 22, Diabetes Alert Day, the ADA’s most prominent period of activism. To keep their certifications, they must receive re-certification every four years.
